Thanks for a great Season 5!
Our heartfelt gratitude to all of the EFF community - audience, filmmakers, moderators, partners, sponsors, and volunteers - without whom none of this would be possible. What an incredible fifth season! We’ve already started talking about how to make it even bigger and better for season six. This video “love letter” by local filmmaker Josh DeForge beautifully captures the huge feeling we have in our hearts.
Right back at you, Josh!
About EFF
Since 2022, the Easthampton Film Festival has been celebrating independent filmmaking and enriching our local arts scene by hosting events and workshops that bring people together through a shared passion for cinema.
What’s Happening
Locally-made Comedies 7pm July 25th @ ABB
At 7pm on Saturday, July 25th at Abandoned Building Brewery we’ll be hosting a showcase screening of selected short comedies by local filmmakers. The presentation will run about 1 hour and will be followed by a talkback with attending filmmakers. After that we’ll hang out, network, and be social until ABB closes at 10pm. The program will include the following MA-made shorts:
Join the Club by Melissa Dimetres (Easthampton) pictured
The Journey Home by Cole Whitaker (Colrain)
The Trip by Ayla Hadimi Ladha & Sarah Feldman (Northampton)
‘98 Honda by Christian Banda (Springfield)
The Doer by Richard Williams (Lowell)
This event will be free and open to the public, but seating is limited. ABB allows you to bring drinks over from the adjacent bar, and outside food is welcome, too (including from Vegan Pizza Land, which is literally right outside).
Help shape EFF’s next season’s program!
We are looking for community members to volunteer on our Selections Committee and help review submissions for EFF’27. No professional film experience is required: just curiosity, thoughtful engagement, and a passion for storytelling. Committee members watch and evaluate films, participate in discussions, and play an important role in determining what audiences will see on screen next April. It's a unique opportunity to discover exciting new work, connect with fellow film lovers, and contribute to a growing cultural event in our community. If you're interested in becoming part of the process, we'd love to hear from you. If interested, please contact:
Lena@EasthamptonFilmFestival.com
Submissions for EFF’27 are now open
Local filmmakers can email the festival for a special code to waive the submission fees. We want to see your movies!! Please note that our submission cutoff will take place earlier this year, on December 31st 2026. That means you’ve still got 7 months to get those submissions in! To submit, use the link in the top banner of this site or go directly to:
Modernize funding for community media
Not-for-profit community access orgs all across our state (like our beloved E-Media www.EasthamptonMedia.org) are facing a fiscal crisis because of the outdated model by which they are funded. Massachusetts bills H.91 and S.2556 ("An Act to modernize funding for community media programming") are active legislative efforts aimed at updating funding for local community media centers. Please watch this well-made 5-minute info video to learn more about the issue and how you can help support this vital legislation!
LAVA Film Festival November 12-14, 2026
EFF is no the only independent film festival in the area! The Lava Film Festival, in Greenfield, runs November 12-14 this year and showcases Massachusetts filmmaking talent from students to professionals and everyone in between. They “spotlight local filmmakers who create films that engage with the community and are made with joy.” Submissions are open now via their FilmFreeway page!
